Typical Kit For A Model Shoot

Studio kit - definitely different from my street photography kit

Studio kit - definitely different from my street photography kit

I have an agency shoot in the studio this weekend.  What camera equipment do I bring you might ask.  You're asking that right?  Anyway, I generally bring the following to a shoot.  Of course, this doesn't include the lighting kit, just my camera equipment.  I normally bring,

  • Nikon D600
  • Nikon D300s (backup)
  • AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4
  • AF-S Nikkor 85mm f/1.8
  • AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 (I sometimes leave this behind)
  • AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8
  • A small film camera - in this case a Nikon point & shoot
  • An instant camera - in this case a FujiFilm Instax 210 wide (with 2 twin packs of film)
  • My GoPro Hero3+ Black

I'll occasionally leave behind the film & instant camera and based on the type of shoot I'll either leave behind the 85mm or 24-70mm Nikkors.  I like to use the GoPro for behind the scene shots as well as the instant camera.  I always bring a backup camera body, just in case....

There you go.  With this kit I cover almost all my bases.
