They say a rising tide rises all boats. I agree. Therefore, I'm talking up my competition. Let me tell you about Palm Studios, a premier photography / video studio in Indianapolis. I don't consider them a competitor because, well, I don't rent out my studio & the owner is a cool guy who I consider a photographer colleague. Palm Studios, however is a rental studio on the north side of Indianapolis.
OK, one thing you have to know, its HUGE. Stephen Simonetto is a photographer friend and owns/runs the studio. The other thing to note if you've been there before, is that they have recently completed a major renovation. Palm Studio has been open for over a year, but Stephen has made it a premier photo / video rental studio. The studio has:
- 2 very large white cyc walls
- 2 very large areas for seamless paper
- a large waiting area / sitting / conference area
- a large white wall with white sides which can be used as a shooting area
- well lit makeup area
- changing room
- huge restrooms
- multiple offices
- lots of tables and chairs to set your stuff up
- plenty of power outlets
- multiple black or white movable walls (which can double as backgrounds)
The ceilings are at least 2 stories tall (check out the photos), all windows have been blacked out (covers can be removed) and the walls painted white.
Bottomline, Palm Studios offers a photographer almost as much or as little space as you need. I've shot there perviously prior to the renovation and it was awesome then. With the renovation it's even more awesome. One of these days I need to rent it and use one of those cyc walls...that would be groovy.
If you are in the Indianapolis area or visiting from out of town and need a rental studio space, give Stephen a ring.
